The student Activities/Governance Program is an essential and fundamental part of the college's educational mission. As the center of college community life, it serves as a laboratory of citizenship, training students in social responsibility and for leadership in our democracy. Through its various committees and staff, it provides a cultural, social and recreational program aiming to make free-time activity a cooperative factor with study in education.
In all its processes it encourages self-directed activity, giving maximum opportunity for self-realization and for growth in individual social competency and group effectiveness. Its goal is the development of the total person as well as stimulating the intellect. Student Activities/Governance Program serves as a unifying force in the life of the college, cultivating enduring regard for and loyalty of the college.

Please welcome our new Associated Students Government President for 2020-2021, Jorge Silva!

My name is Jorge Silva and I was born and raised in Mexicali, BC. After finishing second grade of secundaria in Mexicali, I moved to Imperial, CA, and began my life in the United States as a freshman at Imperial High School.

I graduated from Imperial High School in 2019 and began attending IVC the following Fall. I discovered the Associated Students Government while I was looking for new ways to help me grow while making a difference for others.

Looking back at the person I was last fall, to the person I am now, I have realized that ASG has helped me in more ways than I expected. It taught me to look at my mistakes, successes, and challenges and channel those lessons into my effort to bring me where I am today.

I want to thank our current ASG President Moises Hernandez for his time and dedication to our campus. His leadership is an example I would like to follow, what he has taught me during his presidency has been a huge factor in making me who I am today. Now that the time has come, I am more than excited to become the new 2020-2021 ASG President. I will work hard alongside my fellow senators to make a campus all students can be proud of.
